On Left: Tucker was featured here with me in Perfect Horse magazine (June 2008) for my “Quiet Harmony article.

On Right: Shown here with Montana horseman, Jon Ensign who teaches off from him during his annual clinics here at Maple Ridge.

Tucker has one of the sweetest dispositions of any horse I have known. He is always first at the gate saying “choose me”. I have decided to sell him because I don’t have the time he needs and deserves. I am having to travel much more for work and he is a horse who needs to stay in work. He has been used as a lesson horse for intermediate riders the last few seasons and was half-leased last season here at Maple Ridge. He is always interested and engaging to be around. He craves attention!

He has been ridden English and Western, has done some Dressage and been started over cavalletti and cross rails. He is ridden in a bitless bridle and a snaffle bit. He knows where his feet are and generally has a very quiet disposition. He can be a little fresh when out of work for a bit. Within just a few rides he is back to normal. We do lots of ground work and desensitizing with our horses and he is one of the best. He’ll walk over bridges, drag items and has even been roped off from once. He can be flagged under saddle, walks over tarps, will stand on a pedestal, ground tie, trailer load and stand to be sprayed. He has been kept barefoot.

Tucker needs to build confidence in new situations. He needs a quiet, confident rider to help him “grow” and finish him. He is generally quiet in the ring and sometimes needs motivation to “get going". The more he moves the better he gets. Correct, regular work will improve his balance and get him working from behind. He is a versatile horse that would make a nice, quiet hunter jumper, western pleasure horse, dressage horse and/or just an all around pleasure horse.

I’m looking for a kind, knowledgeable rider with time to spend enjoying Tucker on a regular basis. His ideal situation is with an owner who will let him live outside with a shelter and spend his non-riding times with other horses. He would be very unhappy being kept in overnight and/or spending his days in a stall.
